Jozef Rotblat was a Jewish Pole born in Lviv, present day Ukraine. He was granted UK citizenship and shortly afterwards began work in the Manhattan project. He was the only one to leave on grounds of conscience throughout the project. He later founded a conference of scientists in Pugwash, Canada, where scientists could discuss the role of ethics, morality and other similar topics in relation to their scientific works. He won a Nobel Peace Prize for his life’s works.
